The article deals with the concept of public services and analyzes the intermediate results of the implementation of customer-oriented governance through the example of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). It is concluded that this term is understood differently in the New Public Management (NPM) theory and in Russian practice, which leads to a distortion of NPM principles. Despite success in the development of the Russian system of public services, problems such as a misrepresented assessment of the efficiency of public administration, a lack of social management, and a lack of consideration of local social values remain.
