SIBLING RELATIONS IN THE CONTEXT OF STUDY OF MODERN KINSHIP FORMS
Abstract
This article presents modern perspectives of study of sibling relations. The suggested approach is based on the idea that sibling relations as well as other relations of kinship are not given at birth but are created in the process of everyday interaction. Therefore the principles of sibling relations and conditions of their maintaining were analyzed. Particular attention was paid to how sibling relations may be characterized by varying degrees of intensity but at the same time remain significant which means they are flexible and latent. Key questions for future studies are presented in the final part of the article. Refs 21.
