ONTOGENETIC DEVELOPMENT OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF RISK BEHAVIOR
Abstract
Differentiation of objective and subjective risk, as well as risk perception, risk attitude and risk-taking is an important issue of risk psychology. The present study aims to describe the ontogenetic development of risk-taking, as well as group norms that facilitate it. In the spring 2014 two groups of young adults who regularly engage in risk-taking behavior were examined: 1) industrial climbers and 2) patients with drug addiction disorders. The study results showed that among industrial climbers the tendency to take risks is already seen at early stages of personality development. For drug users risk seeking is not necessarily an important factor of substance use and abuse in adolescence, and later could lose all significance as a result of the chemical dependency formation.
