DIGITAL FACE AND DIGITAL BODY: NEW PHENOMENA IN THE VISUAL CONTENT OF SOCIAL NETWORKS
Abstract
The article summarizes key hypotheses about popular visual practices of the self-presentation in the online space (selfie, pottering, vadering et al). Mobile photography and the emergence of lay self-portraiture are often interpreted as process of individualization. This article discusses contemporary photos in social network sites in context of group identification. Digital photos are an instrument aimed at gaining social approval and support. Refs 25.
