THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES RAISING CHILDREN WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISORDERS
Abstract
This paper presents the main theoretical and methodological aspects of psychological support for families raising children with developmental disorders. Psychological aid to families of this category is thought of as helping families solve issues of intrapersonal, intrafamilial and extrafamilial relations so as to create optimum conditions for development of both the child and their immediate family members. The article identifies the following components of psychological support: family psychodiagnostics, family psychoconsulting, psychological aid, psychological follow-up and family psychological correction. The authors also reviewed main theoretical approaches applied in Russia and abroad to psychological work with families raising children with developmental disorders. The article identifi es the following principles of psychological support to families and its main component, i. e. psychological correction of the family functioning: systematic, individualization, activity approach, hierarchical, and integrative principle.
